Told through a series of poetic vignettes, this coming-of-age story examines the impact of redlining, displacement, and redevelopment of Miami's historical black neighborhood, Liberty Square. Deeply rooted in rhythm, rich language, and real history, this powerful play-in-verse is a lyrical tribute to the joy, pain, and resilience of a community that refuses to be erased. Coconut Grove Theatre Festival is thrilled to be bringing theatre back to the Grove with a weekend of staged play readings, May 8-11, 2025, at the Woman’s Club of Coconut Grove featuring South Florida playwrights, directors, and actors!

David Auburn’s twice-extended Broadway hit traces each woman’s growing disquiet with the compromises they’ve made, and the transformative power of a friendship at the right time. “Sharply observant... a story of profound connection and awakening disquiet.” – The New York Times Runtime: 1 hour 30 minutes (no intermission) Presented by Roz & Charles Stuzin. This divinely intimate portrait of motherhood, ambition and independence is dedicated to Christine Dolen.

Fiddler on the Roof Presented by Adrienne Arsht Center

Artistic director Stuart Meltzer has a history of presenting fresh, bold interpretations of classics of the musical theater canon, focusing on the intimacy of performance and storytelling. In that tradition, Zoetic Stage will present Fiddler on the Roof, the brainchild of Broadway legends Jerome Robbins and Harold Prince, songwriters Jerry Bock and Sheldon Harnick and book writer Joseph Stein. Set in the village of Anatevka, the story centers on Tevye, a poor milkman, and his five daughters as he tries to protect them and instill them with traditional values in the face of changing social mores and the growing anti-Semitism of Czarist Russia. Fiddler on the Roof's universal theme of tradition cuts across barriers of race, class, nationality and religion. With iconic and beloved songs such as "Sunrise, Sunset," "If I Were a Rich Man" and "Matchmaker, Matchmaker," Fiddler on the Roof is a story of humor, heart and honesty.
