The Persistence of Memory Presented by Kaleidoscope MusArt
Much like Dalí’s painting of the same name, The Persistence of Memory suggests a melding of time, exploring musical dialogues across history. Through György Kurtág’s transcriptions of Bach's works, this program forms an arch linking one of the most significant composers alive today to one of the most significant composers to ever live. Works by Schubert and Mozart showcase threads of vocally-inspired and dramatically-driven pianism in the Austrian tradition.
Performers: Naoko Takao & Kenneth Slowik (piano).
Program:
J.S. Bach / Gyorgy Kurtag – Sonatina from Actus Tragicus, BWV 106 and Aus tiefer Not schrei ich zu dir, BWV 687

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart – Sonata for Piano Four Hands in F major, K. 497
Franz Schubert – Sonata for Piano Four Hands in C Major, D. 812
