The Frost Chopin Academy & Festival concludes with a vibrant and imaginative program featuring the Ted Rosenthal Trio, one of today’s most inventive voices in jazz. Known for his ability to bridge classical tradition and contemporary improvisation, Rosenthal brings a program drawn from his acclaimed album Classics Reimagined: Impromp2, where themes by Chopin, Brahms, Dvořák, and others are transformed into fresh, expressive landscapes for jazz trio. As Paris‑Move writes, “Rosenthal’s jazz arrangements are not content to decorate; they transform. He can be proud of his vision, his ensemble, and this luminous conversation between centuries.” The program also includes selections from Rosenthal’s recent release High Standards, alongside original works from The Ted Rosenthal Songbook, offering a rich tapestry of lyricism, swing, and inventive interplay. A celebratory finale to the festival, this concert invites audiences into a world where classical lineage and jazz imagination meet—closing the week with energy, elegance, and artistic freedom. The Frost Chopin Academy & Festival is honored to present a recital by Garrick Ohlsson, one of the most distinguished pianists of our time and a towering figure in the world of Chopin interpretation. Since winning the 1970 International Chopin Piano Competition—becoming the first American to receive this honor—Ohlsson has built a remarkable international career marked by technical mastery, intellectual depth, and a rare ability to reveal the full emotional and structural richness of the repertoire. Renowned for his expansive command of piano literature, Ohlsson brings to this program three monumental works that illuminate the breadth of his artistry. Shostakovich’s Prelude and Fugue in E minor, op. 87, with its stark introspection and rigorous contrapuntal design, showcases Ohlsson’s architectural clarity. In Brahms’s Variations and Fugue on a Theme of Handel, op. 24, he turns to one of the great monuments of the Romantic repertoire—a work of symphonic imagination, expressive variety, and dazzling invention. The evening also includes Chopin’s Ballade in A‑flat major, op. 47, a narrative masterpiece whose poetic sweep and emotional depth have long been central to Ohlsson’s musical identity. The Frost Chopin Academy & Festival launches its 2026 edition with an unforgettable opening concert featuring internationally acclaimed pianist Kate Liu. Catapulted to global attention after winning the Bronze Medal and the Audience Prize at the 17th International Chopin Competition in Warsaw, Liu has since earned a reputation as one of the most compelling Chopin interpreters of her generation. Her performances—praised for their poetic depth, luminous sound, and extraordinary emotional insight—have captivated audiences across Europe, Asia, and the Americas. A graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music and The Juilliard School, Liu has appeared with major orchestras and on the world’s leading stages, consistently recognized for her rare ability to illuminate the inner life of Chopin’s music. Her artistry combines intellectual clarity with a deeply personal voice, making her a Chopin player of the highest caliber. For this opening recital, Liu offers a richly sculpted program that highlights the breadth of the Romantic imagination: Schumann’s Arabeske unfolding with intimate lyricism and Brahms’ Piano Sonata No. 1 showcasing youthful brilliance and symphonic scope. The program will, of course, also feature music by Chopin; the Mazurkas, op. 50—miniatures of exquisite nuance and national character—and the iconic Piano Sonata No. 2, whose dramatic contrasts and haunting “Funeral March” remain among the most powerful statements in the piano repertoire. ongs of the Diaspora is a live performance and community gathering at HistoryMiami Museum that explores AfroLatinidad through music, movement, storytelling, and shared memory. Rooted in the living traditions of the Black Caribbean, the evening follows the rhythms, journeys, and cultural exchanges that connect communities across the Americas and beyond. Headlined by Afro-Latina soprano and scholar Dr. Zuly Inirio, alongside musicians and artists from across the Diaspora, the performance blends ancestral songs with contemporary expression. It honors where we’ve come from while making space for who we are now. This is more than a concert. This is a space to gather, reflect, and participate. Through moments of call and response, story, and shared rhythm, audiences are invited into an experience of connection, grounded in history, alive in the present, and rooted in community here in South Florida.

An ensemble of stellar vocalists and instrumentalists come together to share the iconic music of RENT like never before. This symphonic take on Jonathan Larson’s beloved musical includes the full score of the show, including favorites “Seasons of Love,” “La Vie Bohème” and “Take Me or Leave Me.” Set in the East Village of New York, RENT is about falling in love, finding your voice and living for today. Winner of the Tony Award for Best Musical and the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, RENT has become a pop cultural phenomenon with songs that rock and a story that resonates with audiences of all ages. Based loosely on Puccini's La Bohème, Jonathan Larson's RENT follows a year in the life of a group of impoverished young artists and musicians struggling to survive and create in New York's Lower East Side under the shadow of HIV/AIDS. The physical and emotional complications of the disease pervade the lives of Roger, Mimi, Tom and Angel. Maureen deals with her chronic infidelity through performance art; her partner, Joanne, wonders if their relationship is worth the trouble. Benny has sold out his bohemian ideals in exchange for a hefty income and is on the outs with his former friends. Mark, an aspiring filmmaker, feels like an outsider to life in general. How these young bohemians negotiate their dreams, loves and conflicts provides the narrative thread to this groundbreaking musical.

Lisa Loeb and Joan Osborne, defining voices of the 1990s, join forces for a co-headlining tour marking the 30th anniversaries of their breakthrough albums—Loeb’s Tails and Osborne’s Relish. Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Lisa Loeb has a legacy of nearly 20 studio albums and EPs, her own weekday SiriusXM radio show on '90s on 9 and era-defining hits like “Stay (I Missed You)” from Reality Bites and "I Do." Joan Osborne is an eight-time Grammy nominee and multiplatinum recording artist. Her 1995 album Relish was a critical and commercial success and spawned the international hit single and video “One of Us.” She has traveled the world for over 25 years, performing in clubs, theaters, arenas and stadiums with her own band and as a featured vocalist.

In Take Me To The World, The Songs of Stephen Sondheim, Donna McKechnie celebrates one of Broadway's greatest composers by performing songs from many of his shows, including A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Company, Follies, A Little Night Music, Anyone Can Whistle, as well as songs from some of his film scores. She shares stories of her time working with him, revealing the great influence he had in her life professionally and personally. Ms. McKechnie received a Tony Award for her performance as Cassie in A Chorus Line and is regarded internationally as one of Broadway's leading ladies having starred in or choreographed productions in London's West End as well as major productions in Tokyo and Paris. She recently completed a year-long run as Madame Morrible in the Broadway production of Wicked. She received a MAC Award for her first one-woman cabaret show and since then has played all over the country. Ms. McKechnie's other Broadway credits include How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, The Education of Hyman Kaplan, Sondheim: A Musical Tribute, (which she also choreographed), Promises-Promises, Company, On the Town, State Fair (Fred Astaire Award) and The Visit. Donna has starred in and/or choreographed numerous regional plays and musicals including Follies, Mack and Mable, Irma La Douce, Gypsy, The Glass Menagerie, Sweet Charity, Six Dance Lessons in Six Weeks, The Imaginary Invalid and Guys and Dolls. She has been seen in dozens of TV Specials and dramatic series including Fame, Cheers, and Dark Shadows. Donna was featured in the film, Every Little Step and played the Rose in the film, The Little Prince. Ms. McKechnie's memoir, TIME STEPS-My Musical Comedy Life was published by Simon and Schuster. In 2019 Donna was honored to be inducted into the American Theatre Hall of Fame.
